The Caribbean region is preparing for a crucial political season with the announcement of elections in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia, to be held just days apart, drawing regional attention to these two island nations. Citizens of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will head to the polls on November 27, 2025. In this contest, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, leader of the Unity Labour Party, will seek re-election against the opposition leader, Dr. Godwin Friday, of the New Democratic Party. Both leaders will head their respective candidate lists in constituencies across the island. Just a few days later, on December 1, 2025, the people of Saint Lucia will exercise their right to vote. The current Prime Minister, Philip J. Pierre of the Saint Lucia Labour Party, will face the former Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet of the United Workers Party. The upcoming election season is critical for the region, as it will determine the political and economic course for both Caribbean nations.
